Senior Software Engineer

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
- 5+ years of industry experience navigating complex systems with distributed ownership
- Experience with C++ or related structured programming language
- A curious, investigative mindset with a bias towards action
- Strong ability to dive into new problems and codebases
- Experience working with non-technical cross-functional partners

- Experience designing analytical frameworks to answer difficult product questions

Responsibilities
- Design and implement measures to increase the efficiency and decrease the cost of Fleet Response operations
- Partner with other teams at Waymo to find headroom in their shares of operational workload
- Generate and research ideas for new optimizations of the work operators perform
- Work with onboard engineering teams to sunset operational work that is no longer necessary
- Contribute to cross-functional analysis and optimization efforts
- Improve regression-detection and culprit-finding for changes that negatively impact operational metrics
