About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer works within SS&C’s Geneva Product Development organization and Geneva Fund Accounting team to develop and maintain the Geneva portfolio accounting product. The role collaborates with product managers to understand client requirements and iteratively design product specifications, then develops features and maintains existing functionality. It also works with QA during testing and addresses issues and client escalations.

Requirements

• Experience with compiled, object-oriented programming languages; C++ is preferred.
• Experience using a Linux or Unix operating system.
• Experience using Linux debugging tools such as gdb.
• Experience developing the backend of enterprise software.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in or supporting the financial industry.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Understanding and experience using agentic AI harnesses such as Claude Code or Codex.
• Sensitivity to numbers and accounting accuracy.
• Analytical and level-headed approach.
• Curiosity and grit, including persistence in investigating complex problems.
• Team-oriented approach and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with product managers to understand client requirements and help design product specifications through design iteration.
• Develop new features according to product specifications using an iterative, agile approach.
• Maintain existing product features by resolving internally and externally reported problems and working on client escalations.
• Work with the QA team while development units and bug fixes go through testing.
