About The Position

We have a platform we are proud of. We are building its successor. Advantage builds the platforms that welcome new students and employees at more than four hundred colleges, universities, and organizations, including Harvard, UCLA, and Florida State. That platform was built for the company we were. We are replacing it with one multi-tenant system built for the company we are becoming, and hiring the engineer who will design it with us. This is application and platform architecture in C# and .NET, on Azure and SQL Server. Not infrastructure, and not content management development.

Requirements

Eight or more years in C# and .NET.
Experience designing and shipping multi-tenant software and ability to explain the chosen model.
Proficiency in SQL Server data modeling and query performance at scale.
Experience with event-driven and messaging architecture, including understanding when not to use it.
Experience evolving a production system while it is in use.
Ability to write design documents that other engineers can act on.
Comfortable in a conversation with a client's technical team.

Responsibilities

Design the tenant model the rest of the platform depends on, and keep hundreds of tenants moving together as it changes.
Determine where domain boundaries belong, and when a capability earns its own service.
Choose the integration and messaging patterns that hold up under load, and defend the choice.
Design SQL Server data architecture for performance, concurrency, reliability, and growth across a large multi-tenant environment.
Engage in client-facing technical work, understanding constraints from institutional IT teams and their systems firsthand.
Perform approximately seventy percent hands-on engineering and thirty percent architecture.
