About The Position

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to execute Android compatibility tests, identify failures, and provide test reports. The role involves triaging and supporting root cause analysis for defects, and upstreaming code to resolve compatibility test suite failures. Responsibilities include designing and developing tools and scripts for test automation, setting up and configuring test equipment and environments (simulation or target hardware), and participating in the continuous improvement of test processes. The engineer will drive down defect resolutions to ensure code quality metrics are met for SW releases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study and Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Software Development and Validation on a preferably Linux based open source operation system focused on system, framework and validation tools and methodologies including Android, Custom-Linux and Custom in-house org OS.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with End to End development of software solutions, validation tools and continuous improvement of existing software features and functionality with an object-oriented / functional / cross-platform/ scripting/ general purpose programming language including Python, Java, C, C++, and Javascript.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Creating and executing of system level automated test frameworks, validating system definition documents and requirements where in the system is including but not limited to Automotive, embedded and consumer oriented devices.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Scrum/Agile software development process and SCM tools including Github, Git, Gerrit, OpenGrok, JIRA, and JIRAAlign.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Creating and implementing Automation workflows with CI/CD DevOps pipelines like github, Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Android compatibility tests (e.g. CTS), identify failures and provide test report.
  • Triage and support root cause analysis on defects.
  • Change and upstream code to solve failures related to compatibility test suites.
  • Design and develop the tools/scripts to automate test workflow.
  • Setup and configure necessary test equipment and environments for test execution and automation.
  • Test environments may include simulation or target hardware.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of test process.
  • Drive down defect resolutions to ensure code quality metrics met for SW releases.
