About The Position

Simple Online Healthcare is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (AI Native) to help build and operate its healthcare platform. The role joins a lean, senior engineering squad and owns services end to end, from design through production, including architecture, observability, reliability, and performance. Work is spec-first: AI generates code, tests, and documentation, while the engineer architects, reviews, integrates, and assures the quality of what ships. The engineer will build core platform components, establish reusable patterns and golden paths, and help shape engineering culture through mentoring, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. The role is based in Glasgow with hybrid or remote working options. Salary is £65,000 to £80,000. Visa sponsorship is unavailable; applicants must already have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.

Requirements

• Experience building production software in a modern language such as TypeScript and Node.js (preferred), Python, or Java.
• Experience building cloud-native systems, ideally on AWS, using Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, or serverless and containerised architectures.
• Strong skills in automated testing, CI/CD, and modern delivery practices.
• Confidence using generative AI tools to accelerate development, or a clear willingness to adopt them.
• Deep understanding of software fundamentals, including architecture, clean code, performance, observability, and maintainability.
• Strong ownership mindset and focus on outcomes.
• Excellent collaboration skills, with comfort pairing, sharing knowledge, and communicating across pods.
• Right to work in the UK at the time of application.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in healthcare, digital services, patient journeys, or regulated environments.
• Full-stack experience, including React or Next.js when required; the role's core strength is backend, cloud-native systems, and platform architecture.
• Experience building scalable platforms, reusable components, or high-leverage engineering systems.
• Curiosity about AI-native development and enthusiasm for the changing ways engineering work is done.

Responsibilities

• Own services end to end, from design through production.
