About The Position

Schneider Electric USA, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Boston, MA. This role will oversee the design and implementation of significant software features enabling consumers to advance their home electrification. The engineer will leverage broad software engineering knowledge to solve complex problems and guide less experienced engineers, helping to scale Schneider Electric’s platform and accelerate clean energy adoption. The position serves as a technical resource for the team while contributing to the overall technical direction of the platform. The Senior Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of intricate software products and systems, fulfilling technical missions with autonomy to propose or develop complex solutions in a technical domain. Responsibilities include coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development or continuous deployment process. The role provides technical leadership on projects while mentoring junior software engineers, making architectural decisions that balance business needs, technical constraints, and user experience. The engineer will resolve complex engineering challenges with elegant and scalable solutions, contribute to strategic technical discussions and roadmap planning, help establish and enforce engineering best practices and standards, and collaborate with product and business teams to define requirements and solutions. The role also contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project, enhances system architecture, and improves code quality. This position is eligible for remote work 2 days/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or related field and five (5) years of progressive experience in software application development, or related occupation OR Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or related field and Three (3) years of experience in software application development, or related occupation.
  • Developing software applications using Python 3.10 or later
  • Building automated tests for backend systems (e.g., unit and integration tests) and frontend applications (e.g., unit and end-to-end tests)
  • Creating frontend applications using TypeScript with a reactive JavaScript framework
  • Architecting and deploying highly scalable applications on AWS services
  • Designing and optimizing both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Using JIRA or Confluence for project tracking and documentation
  • Creating dashboards for performance monitoring and alerting
