About The Position

The software engineer will join a team of software and systems engineers driving solutions for many avionics teams. The team supports Avionics development teams and simulations across Commercial Business Jets, Air Transport aircraft and Mission Systems aircraft programs. Our tools are used to develop features in avionics products, test avionics systems and produce Avionics software configuration files for products. These tools are used by engineers across Collins Aerospace and by our Aircraft manufacturing customers and aircraft operators. We produce a continuum of technologies and tools to provide desktop and cloud Avionics environments, enable Avionics test stands, flight deck system integration facilities and DO-330 qualified tools that produce and verify configuration files for Avionics products. We serve and support a broad range of Avionics products within Collins. This is a great role in getting experience across the entire breadth of our Avionics organization. This is an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Requirements

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
U.S. Person required - job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
Previous experience leading small technical projects or processes.
Previous experience using one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++/C#, Python, Java
Linux and Microsoft Windows 11 experience and familiarity with operating and using software on Windows PCs.

Responsibilities

Work in a team focused on innovation and production of software tools that enable Avionics airborne software development, verification and production.
Code, test, and provide ongoing support for simulation software and Avionics configuration tools to meet technical and customer requirements.
Implement DevOps tools and processes in Avionics engineering and apply technologies to automate and streamline avionics software production.
Develop tools and testing infrastructures that support automated build and continuous integration, and test using a variety of languages including C/C++, Python, Java and Robot Framework.
Collaborate using software configuration management tools and DevOps tools such as Git, GitMR, Artifactory, Jama, Grafana and Docker in a cross-platform environment including Linux and Windows.
