Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
The Big Rocks team focuses on large-scale modernization efforts in a large, legacy mono-repo in the Substrate + WorkIQ org. Current efforts include CoreXT removal, .NET version migration, and .NET Framework to .NET migration over thousands of projects and dozens of teams. This team is crucial for unblocking Linux and widespread RUST adoption efforts in Substrate while working to standardize 20+ year code to align with industry best practices. This position will work closely with other teams in unknown areas to deliver impact with an attitude of continuous learning and improvement. This position delivers repo-wide improvements in mono-repos across multiple teams focusing on highest priority business goals for system-wide impact. This position works with critical but complex areas with no prior understanding and is expected to ramp up quickly in multiple areas. Candidates should be able to use and develop agentic tooling to speed up impact and make the repo more agentic friendly. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience migrating repos from .NET Framework to .NET at scale, prior experience working in large, agentic-unfriendly repos.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
