About The Position

Optiver is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join their High-Frequency Trading (HFT) team in Austin, TX. This team, composed of software engineers and researchers, is responsible for designing, improving, and executing fully automated trading strategies utilizing machine learning. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to lead complex technical projects, contribute to the strategic direction of the trading infrastructure, and foster knowledge sharing and technical advancement within teams. The software engineers tackle challenging algorithmic problems, owning the entire process from data and simulation to production execution. The system is engineered for robustness, supporting large-scale research and running intricate machine learning models with low latency across numerous financial instruments.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong expertise in C++
  • 2+ years of C++ experience in low-latency systems like market data ingestion, order routing, execution performance, or simulation frameworks
  • Experience with C, Python, or Linux

Responsibilities

  • Establish vision and technical direction for machine learning-driven trading systems that help maintain our position as a leading team in futures and equities trading
  • Partner deeply with researchers to solve complex, high-value business problems
  • Build and maintain end-to-end trading infrastructure, from research to production execution
  • Push frequent, impactful code changes to the production environment
  • Contribute to the Optiver stack and our pricing, research and trading models from ideation through to implementation
  • Ensure new and existing programs adhere to our coding, architectural, and operational standards
