Senior Software Engineer - Truemed Labs

Truemed
$175,000 - $225,000Remote

About The Position

Truemed enables health and wellness merchants to accept $150+ billion in HSA/FSA funds. As part of this, we're constantly looking for new ways to serve our partners and customers through innovative experiences and integrations. Labs is Truemed's zero-to-one innovation team, focused on turning early ideas into validated business opportunities. Operating outside the core product and engineering roadmap, Labs moves quickly and acts decisively, taking bold swings on ideas that could become new product lines for Truemed. These ideas are tested through rapid, hypothesis-driven experiments: build a prototype, present it to real users, gather signal, and decide whether to continue investing. You'll join a small team—typically one or two engineers partnering with a product owner—with a high degree of autonomy. Everyone in Labs uses AI-assisted development, automation, and rapid prototyping to move from idea to working prototype within weeks. You'll help shape experiments, define technical approaches, influence product direction, and build and ship prototypes yourself. If you thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and take end-to-end ownership, Labs offers an ideal environment. If you enjoy building from scratch and seeing your work shape company strategy, this is your place to shine.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience building and shipping software products (engineer, technical founder, or multidisciplinary builder)
  • Comfort with ambiguity and discovery through experimentation
  • Strong experience with AI tools, agentic coding workflows, and automation to accelerate development
  • Experience shipping full-stack web applications (NextJS/Typescript frontend; Django/Python backend)
  • Hands-on experience building product features using LLMs and foundation model APIs
  • An eye for product and design, with the ability to quickly create and test functional prototypes
  • Experience with hypothesis-driven product development: defining metrics, running experiments/A/B tests, and making data-driven decisions
  • Sound engineering judgment: able to balance fast, lightweight prototyping with awareness of security, compliance, and reliability where needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective technical and non-technical collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • Founder or early-startup experience
  • Consumer or e-commerce product experience
  • Healthcare/HSA-FSA domain exposure

Responsibilities

  • Own experiments end to end: start with a clear hypothesis, design the quickest test, build it, ship to users, and decide next steps based on data
  • Build functional prototypes for new products and experiences, from consumer surfaces to entirely new platforms
  • Use AI-assisted development, agentic coding workflows, and automation to accelerate prototyping and problem solving
  • Gather evidence using A/B tests, user feedback, and telemetry, prioritizing quantitative signals
  • Collaborate with your product owner and cross-functional partners to shape experiments and influence direction
  • Balance speed with sound engineering judgment, especially around security and compliance; partner with legal early to address risks
  • Document and share learnings with the broader organization

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer-sponsored HSA contributions
