Deep End Talent Strategies
$160,000 - $200,000Remote

About The Position

Incisive is a dental lab network built for restorative and surgical practices. They provide practices with access to nine curated specialty labs, digital scanning equipment, a single software platform, and a clinical support team. Practices benefit from the quality of multiple labs with the simplicity of a single partnership. Incisive is PE-backed by Lock 8 Partners, trusted by over 600 doctors nationwide, and experiencing rapid growth with a high annual retention rate. This role involves designing and scaling the B2B SaaS portal, infrastructure, and data products. The position is for a builder on a new, modern codebase, focusing on rapid delivery of business value. The role is AI-native, with the team heavily utilizing AI in product development. The tech stack is recent, well-architected, and includes test coverage, observability, and CI/CD for fast onboarding and reduced time-to-value.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production systems
  • Strong proficiency in React (hooks, state management, component architecture) and Python (e.g., FastAPI, Django, or Flask)
  • Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud architecture best practices
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining applications that securely handle PHI and/or PII, with working knowledge of HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar compliance frameworks and how they shape architecture, data storage, and access decisions
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to Test-Driven Development and automated testing practices
  • Experience using AI coding tools within a spec-driven workflow, with an ability to write precise, unambiguous technical specifications
  • Excellent written communication skills — critical for a remote, distributed team
  • Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a fully remote environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with security best practices for cloud-native applications
  • Experience with observability/monitoring stacks (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana)
  • Prior experience in a fully remote, async-first engineering culture

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications using React on the frontend and Python on the backend, with PostgreSQL as the primary data store
  • Architect and deploy scalable, secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and CloudFront as appropriate
  • Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to ensure reproducible, version-controlled environments across dev, staging, and production
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, and deployments
  • Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD), writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests before or alongside implementation to ensure high code quality and confidence in releases
  • Apply Spec-Driven AI Development practices — writing clear, structured specifications that guide AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate implementation while maintaining code quality and architectural consistency
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into well-scoped technical specs
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help establish engineering best practices
  • Monitor application performance and reliability in production, using observability tools to proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Participate in architectural decisions, balancing scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed
  • Design and implement systems that handle Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in full compliance with HIPAA and other applicable data privacy regulations, incorporating encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, and audit logging by default

Benefits

  • $160,000–$200,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
  • 20% target bonus
  • Meaningful equity participation in a PE-backed growth story
  • Fully remote within the United States
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, dental, vision benefits, and 401k with company match
