Senior Software Engineer, Rocket Travel by Agoda
About The Position
Rocket Travel by Agoda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the end-to-end development of customer-facing travel web applications. This role will have a primary focus on frontend architecture and user experience optimization. The engineer will design, develop, and deploy new features for high-traffic travel booking platforms integrated with third-party APIs. This position requires a customer- and product-focused mindset, with close collaboration with product managers and UX designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions for Rocket Travel’s partner platforms. The role involves conducting advanced A/B testing and data-driven feature enhancements to improve conversion rates and customer engagement, leveraging in-depth knowledge of travel industry user behavior. While the primary focus is on React and GraphQL, there will be opportunities to learn and contribute to the backend. The ideal candidate will stay abreast of emerging frontend technologies and advocate for the adoption of tools and frameworks that align with the company's product vision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field of study.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in developing scalable and maintainable software solutions.
- 5 years of experience with at least one modern programming language, such as Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- 5 years of experience with software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures, including schema design and query optimization for dynamic travel data.
- 3 years of experience with building and maintaining distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- 3 years of experience with relational and non-relational databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, specifically for storing and retrieving travel booking and user profile data.
- 2 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (such as Git), and agile development practices.
- 2 years of experience in implementing A/B testing frameworks and analyzing user interaction data to drive product decisions in the travel technology domain.
- Authorized to accept employment in the US from any employer.
- Willing to start within three weeks of accepting an offer.
- Able to work a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days per week in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
