The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for assisting through various steps of the software development lifecycle, including analyzing needs and designing, testing and development software to address those needs. This position will also ensure appropriate cyber security measures are implemented across company infrastructures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science or related field.
  • 6-9 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Considerable experience working through the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Considerable experience in high-level programming languages, such as C#, Javascript (Node.JS/Deno.JS, Bun), Python, or Java.
  • Deep knowledge of software platform development.
  • Working with other teams to integrate APIs, data pipelines.
  • Extensive API design, security, and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of AWS systems and service/deployment management through IaC.
  • Advanced Github knowledge for gitflows and Github administration.
  • Advanced relational database and SQL experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software issues and debug large databases.
  • Ability to utilize high-level programming languages.
  • Implement a set of security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements to management as needed (example: NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1).

Nice To Haves

  • Analytical data warehouse knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from analyzing needs, to then designing, testing and developing software to meet business needs.
  • Document processes and procedures through the use of diagrams and flowcharts.
  • Detect and remove hardware limitations that could impact software design.
  • Resolve issues with system quality and identify common patterns surrounding them.
  • Update existing codebases and peer review code changes.
  • Develop computer instructions through the use of algorithms.
  • Implement new and improved technical designs and technologies.
  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade security measures for the protection of the organization's data, systems, and networks.
  • Troubleshoot security and network problems.
  • Respond to all system and/or network security breaches.
  • Ensure that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls.
  • Actively participate in establishing disaster recovery procedures and conducting security breach drills.
  • Participate in the change management process.
  • Test and identify network and system vulnerabilities.
  • Perform daily administrative tasks, such as reporting and communicating with relevant departments in the organization.
  • Remain up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products.
  • Plan and carry out an information security strategy.
  • Implement a set of security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements to management as needed (example: NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1).
