Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field or equivalent working experience
  • Hands-on experience in software development, systems analysis, and application design.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming concepts, software architecture patterns, and database design.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and enterprise application development.
  • Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud computing platforms, and scalable software architectures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain software applications using Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Write, modify, debug, and optimize clean, scalable, and efficient code using programming languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, and SQL.
  • Develop business-critical software features, APIs, backend services, and enterprise applications.
  • Build and maintain distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud-native applications.
  • Develop and integrate software solutions supporting Caterpillar digital initiatives, connected equipment, IoT systems, enterprise tools, and data analytics platforms.
  • Participate in software architecture design, code reviews, technical documentation, and systems integration activities.
  • Analyze technical requirements and identify appropriate software engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software defects, integration issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize application reliability, scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Automate workflows and deployment processes to improve system efficiency and operational performance.
  • Apply object-oriented programming principles, algorithms, and software engineering best practices to develop technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, systems analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Gather, analyze, and refine technical and functional requirements from internal users and customers.
  • Communicate technical solutions, project updates, and system requirements effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, and release activities.
  • Develop and execute unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing procedures.
  • Utilize automated testing frameworks and CI/CD deployment pipelines to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with software engineering standards, coding best practices, and secure software development requirements.
  • Contribute to software engineering standards, coding guidelines, and development best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and application optimization.
  • Support knowledge sharing and mentor junior engineers when applicable.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies, frameworks, and development tools to improve software capabilities.
