Senior Software Engineer - Java, AWS & Microservices
About The Position
The Information Technology group delivers secure, reliable technology solutions that enable DTCC to be the trusted infrastructure of the global capital markets. The team delivers high-quality information through activities that include development of essential, building infrastructure capabilities to meet client needs and implementing data standards and governance. As a Senior Software Engineer within Enterprise Cloud Services, you will design, build, and support mission-critical applications that power DTCC's core platforms. You will deliver scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions while driving modernization through microservices, event-driven architectures, automation, and AI-enabled engineering practices. Working closely with architects, product teams, and engineering partners, you will help shape the next generation of high-performance platforms in a highly regulated, always-on environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 6-8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, SQL development, and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, and observability practices.
- Proven ability to design highly available, scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, production support, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for modern engineering practices, continuous improvement, and technology innovation.
- Experience leveraging GitHub Copilot, Kiro, Generative AI, or AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and software quality.

- Experience within financial services, capital markets, or other regulated industries.
- Experience building distributed systems and cloud-native platforms at scale.
- Exposure to modernization, platform transformation, and AI-enabled engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Java-based applications and microservices.
- Build scalable, resilient, and secure APIs, integrations, and event-driven solutions.
- Deliver software across the full SDLC, from design through production support.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and database solutions.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution.
- Partner with business, architecture, and infrastructure teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to modernization initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Embed security, risk management, resiliency, and operational readiness into daily engineering practices.
