Saris AI is an applied AI startup based in San Francisco and Montreal, focused on building the future of work within the banking industry. The company addresses a significant and rapidly growing problem ($100 billion/yr, doubling quarterly) by pushing the boundaries of multi-turn AI agentic systems. Their mission is to automate complex problems that require long-context reasoning, tool orchestration across legacy systems, and strict compliance loops, especially those without known solutions. Saris AI has successfully deployed real agents handling customer workflows in production and is experiencing rapid growth. They are seeking highly technical individuals who want to make a significant early impact. The core engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who excels in early-stage, ambiguous environments, has experience taking products from version 1 to scale, and enjoys designing robust, long-lasting systems.

Requirements

6+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
Demonstrated backend/fullstack engineering experience, ideally in SaaS in high-impact projects
Deep experience with Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI), TypeScript (React), Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
Strong experience with designing, building and scaling distributed systems
Strong background in relational + non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis)
API design chops (REST, GraphQL), deployment know-how

Have experience building integrations or data pipelines

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance practical AI-powered software solutions for the fintech industry.
Own project timelines by managing priorities and delivering high-quality features.
Drive product and business decisions as a core contributor, helping to shape both the technical foundation and strategic direction.
Participate and foster best practices including code reviews, testing, etc.
