Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
NKI is experiencing rapid growth, and we're looking for a full-time Senior Software Engineer to join our team and support this exciting expansion. The Software Engineer will help to aid in next generation tools and systems development. This is an exciting position that will have you developing web-based applications that integrate with our custom embedded systems, utilizing generative AI and AI-assisted coding tools to design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions. We are looking for a San Diego-based Software Engineer to join our team at NKI. This is a 100% onsite, full-time position following a 9/80 schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 6+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering
- Experience with the following languages: High-level: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go; Systems: C/C++, Rust, C#
- Expertise in Linus Systems and Virtual Machines
- Expertise in Web-based UI development
- Network Software Engineering (TLS / HTTPS)
- U.S. citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Component-based web UI and web test frameworks
- Kotlin and Android development
- RESTCONF and YANG
- Cryptography basics
- Prior embedded or network-systems exposure
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement AI-assisted software applications
- Writing of requirements, specifications, and test documents
- Execution of tests and documentation of completed testing
- Interface with customers to develop requirements and perform design reviews
