About The Position
Alumni Ventures is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to solve complex business problems through thoughtful software design and practical engineering solutions. This role involves working directly with finance, operations, and investment teams to build software for investor reporting, fund operations, portfolio management, and internal business workflows. A key aspect of this position is transforming spreadsheet-based processes and manual workflows into scalable applications and automated systems. The engineer will build tools to manage critical business data, enhancing organizational efficiency and decision-making. This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept to production and influencing the operations of a growing venture capital platform. The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to identify opportunities, design solutions, and deliver software that addresses operational challenges. Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining production applications
- Experience developing applications using Javascript/Node.js, Python, or both
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience building and maintaining API integrations
- Full-stack application development experience
- Experience working with AWS cloud services
- Experience using modern development tools, including AI-assisted development tools
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to navigate changing business priorities and collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment

- Experience in financial services, fintech, accounting, investment management, or related industries
- Experience integrating with ERP, accounting, or financial systems

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal and investor-facing applications
- Develop systems that automate financial, operational, and reporting workflows
- Transform spreadsheet-based business processes into scalable software solutions
- Build and maintain integrations between internal and third-party systems
- Develop APIs and services that support critical business operations
- Partner directly with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in application architecture and technical design decisions
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
