About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer builds and maintains a shared front-end design system and component library used across the Bank’s web applications. The role centers on TypeScript component engineering, Node.js-powered build, test, and release pipelines, accessibility and quality standards, and enabling internal product teams through documentation and support. The engineer develops reusable UI components, patterns, and utilities; translates approved UX/UI designs and interaction specifications into robust, accessible components; and develops Web Components and standards-based patterns for framework-agnostic adoption. The role also maintains documentation and developer enablement materials, supports consuming teams, and collaborates with product, design, QA, and engineering teams to align on shared UI standards. The position supports the component library’s build, test, lint, packaging, and publishing tools; CI/CD automation; automated testing and code review practices; and safe versioning and release practices. The engineer troubleshoots integration issues, triages defects, and improves developer experience. They are expected to follow the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, controls, and internal control standards, escalating risk-related issues and addressing audit or regulator findings as applicable. The role also promotes a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. This is an on-site position with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
