About The Position

We're representing a rapidly growing AI startup building next-generation voice automation infrastructure for enterprise customers. Their platform combines proprietary speech models, real-time voice systems, and custom orchestration technology to deliver AI-powered voice and messaging experiences at scale. The company has achieved strong early enterprise traction, serving customers with large annual contract values while building entirely in-house AI and infrastructure systems. With significant funding secured and aggressive growth plans ahead, they are expanding their engineering team to help scale both the platform and the business.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience building and operating production-grade software systems at scale.
  • Proven success working in both startup environments and larger engineering organizations.
  • Expertise in Python and modern backend development practices.
  • Experience with TypeScript and full-stack development, or deep backend/distributed systems expertise.
  • Strong system design and architecture skills with experience scaling high-volume applications.
  • Demonstrated ownership of large technical initiatives from conception through production.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong mentorship experience and interest in helping build engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GraphQL, React, and modern web application architectures.
  • Background in voice AI, conversational AI, speech systems, communications platforms, or real-time infrastructure.
  • Experience scaling distributed systems with demanding latency and reliability requirements.
  • Previous founding engineer, early engineer, or startup leadership experience.
  • Experience building customer-facing enterprise software products.
  • Strong understanding of observability, infrastructure, and operational excellence.
  • Computer Science or STEM degree from a highly regarded university.

Responsibilities

  • Own major product and infrastructure initiatives across real-time voice systems, customer-facing applications, analytics platforms, and backend services.
  • Design, build, and scale highly available distributed systems that support large-scale real-time communications workloads.
  • Develop and maintain full-stack product experiences, including customer dashboards, operational tooling, and self-service capabilities.
  • Build new AI-powered product features and automation workflows that directly impact enterprise customer adoption and revenue growth.
  • Architect systems for performance, reliability, and scalability as platform usage expands significantly.
  • Work directly with customers to understand product requirements and translate feedback into technical solutions.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from scoping and design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Partner closely with leadership to influence product direction, technical strategy, and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture as the team grows.
