Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)
About The Position
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to join a small, lean team of ten engineers. The role is a core team position with significant ownership, helping scale core services and build new Generative AI and LLM-driven workflows. The position is full-time and hybrid in San Francisco, with three days per week in person. The salary range is $170,000–$230,000, with 0.1–0.2% equity. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship, such as U.S. citizens or Green Card holders. The engineer will build backend services and infrastructure that interface with LLMs and Generative AI models, own projects from early prototypes through production hardening, and help scale existing products as they launch to more organizations. The role also focuses on improving backend architecture, observability, and code quality, and involves direct collaboration with engineers and the CTO in a flat engineering structure. The technology stack includes Python, TypeScript, React Native, React, MongoDB, AWS, Docker, and PostgreSQL.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in backend-leaning full-stack software engineering.
- Experience at an early-stage startup, from Pre-seed to Series B.
- Strong demonstrated technical expertise, including the ability to move quickly and understand and explain one's code.
- Strong proficiency in Python for backend development.
- Strong communication skills and ability to take high ownership.
- Demonstrated signal of excellence, such as attending a top 50 university, working at a high-growth startup, holding leadership roles, or participating in a robotics club.
Nice To Haves
- Experience or demonstrated interest in healthcare or HealthTech AI.
- Experience with production LLMs or Generative AI.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship complex backend services and infrastructure that interface with LLMs and Generative AI models.
- Own zero-to-one projects, from prototyping MVPs through making them scalable, secure, and reliable production systems.
- Help scale existing products as they launch to more organizations.
- Improve backend architecture, observability, and code quality standards.
- Collaborate directly with other engineers and the CTO in a flat engineering structure.
