About The Position

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, and data scientists focused on building and advancing the technological backbone for Disney’s media business worldwide. The team combines technology with creativity to develop world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for its businesses. Technologists in this organization design and build the products and platforms that will power Disney’s media, advertising, and distribution businesses. The technology and products serve as a key connection point for fans with Disney’s brands and stories, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC. The team develops and implements groundbreaking products and techniques to shape industry norms and solve complex technical problems. Content Platforms & Operations is specifically responsible for the development and advancement of the technical and operational functions that drive the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, and network transmission and origination. The global team also acts as a primary collaboration point between Product & Technology and Disney’s regional business teams in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. The team builds global products, platforms, and tools that deliver and monetize Disney’s content, power its businesses, and reflect the company's innovative spirit. The Content Platforms team is investing in innovative technology to deliver a state-of-the-art content pipeline.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in web development or software engineering
  • Mastery of HTTP server and proxy technologies such as HA Proxy, NGINX, Apache
  • Extensive experience with NodeJS, and/or Java/Kotlin programming
  • Extensive experience with cloud native technologies such as AWS EC2, Fargate, and Cloudfront
  • Experience with frontend web development technologies and principles
  • Experience with task automation
  • Ability to research, learn, assess, and evangelize new technologies
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Driven and self-motivated
  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in media distribution
  • Experience building AI driven software
  • Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results
  • Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling
  • Experience with React Native

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining shared JavaScript libraries and UI components.
  • Implementing business logic of various tool workflows.
  • Reviewing others JavaScript and TypeScript code.
  • Acting as a tech leader for various projects and initiatives.
  • Employ test driven development and agile development practices.
