About The Position

Apple’s Data Analytics team is seeking a distributed systems engineer to work on its device telemetry platform. The team builds services and applications that parse, persist, and help understand how Apple customers use their devices. It collects, analyzes, and produces insights from diagnostic and usage data from Apple devices, which are used to improve products and services and inform the direction of Apple platforms. The role spans device data, data collection, compute, and query and visualization interfaces. As part of a cross-functional engineering team, the engineer will design, build, and iterate on stream-processing and ingestion pipelines. The role involves collaborating with data scientists and engineers across Apple to capture and refine requirements, validate design decisions, and implement solutions. It has high visibility and impact within Apple Software Engineering.

  • Extensive experience with container-based orchestration, such as Kubernetes, EC2, or GCP.
  • Practical knowledge of queue or stream consumers such as Flink and Kafka.
  • High proficiency with agentic development techniques.
  • Unwavering commitment to CI/CD.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to profiling and optimizing scale compute and data pipelines.
  • Comfort and adaptability in a dynamic, informal environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
