About The Position

Mindex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Software Development division. The role designs, builds, and supports enterprise applications using Java, the Spring Framework, and modern development tools, incorporating AI-assisted engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle. The engineer works closely with customers and cross-functional team members to understand business needs and deliver reliable software solutions. The position welcomes candidates from a variety of locations, with occasional in-person participation for business meetings, team events, or collaboration. Candidates located within approximately 35 miles of Rochester, New York, may be asked to work from the office more frequently based on business or team needs.

Requirements

Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 5 years of software development experience with Java, Spring Framework, React, Python, MongoDB, and Kafka.
Experience with enterprise development in an Agile environment.
Experience with a relational database management system such as Oracle or SQL Server.
Experience with SOAP and/or REST web services.
Experience with defect tracking software.
Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience mentoring coworkers.
Strong analysis, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized and accurate, with strong initiative and follow-through.
Aptitude and desire to work in a highly collaborative, self-organizing team environment.
Willingness and ability to give and receive feedback.
Ability to work independently while asking questions when needed.

Responsibilities

Partner with customers and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into actionable development tasks and deliver software solutions that meet customer needs.
Design and develop secure, maintainable Java solutions aligned with the overall service architecture, using effective abstractions and code isolation to support future enhancements.
Define testing scope and approach, validate software functionality, and participate in pull requests to improve code quality and adherence to engineering best practices.
Systematically debug, diagnose, and resolve application issues, collaborating with engineers on challenges spanning multiple services.
Develop a strong understanding of the team's applications and expertise in key areas of the domain to guide technical decisions and support delivery.
Apply a security-focused approach throughout development, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in code and peer reviews.
Coordinate with other teams to identify dependencies, address roadblocks, and implement solutions efficiently; maintain documentation for future upgrades and maintenance.
Mentor junior engineers, share technical knowledge, and provide guidance to strengthen team capabilities and continuous improvement.
Use AI-assisted tools and technologies to enhance productivity, accelerate problem-solving, improve quality, automate routine tasks, and support innovation in solution and service delivery.
