About The Position
Nelnet Business Services (NBS), a division of Nelnet, Inc., provides payment technology and education services to more than 1,200 higher education institutions, nearly 12,000 K-12 schools, and millions of individual students, families, and supporters across the globe. We're launching a brand-new Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) engineering team, building a platform from the ground up to help our partners collect donations, evaluate families for scholarship eligibility, and distribute funds. If you want the chance to build a new product, drive technical direction, and work on a small team where your work is impactful, then this is that kind of role. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key component of our development team. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and other internal teams to understand customer needs and turn them into technical solutions. We work in a .NET stack with Angular, but we value engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn over specific tech experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 + years of related experience.
- Strong technical competency, with a logical, analytical, and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and management on complex issues.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
- Adapts well to change and focuses on continuous improvement.
- Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Researches, designs, implements and manages software applications.
- Partners with Product and Engineering team to define requirements.
- Write, test, and implement efficient code.
- Review and provide feedback on pull requests.
- Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow.
- Coach and mentor other team members.
- Stay positive and solution-oriented with team members and stakeholders.
