About The Position

This is a telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. The Senior Software Engineer will write code to add new software features to applications using Golang or other languages where appropriate. The role involves contributing to the design and implementation of databases, designing schemas, and creating efficient queries and access patterns. The engineer will participate in Agile software development ceremonies, code reviews, and refactor application code to improve stability, performance, and scalability. Collaboration with team leads, architects, and other engineers on product design and architecture is expected. The role also includes writing and maintaining tests, working with global customer support teams, and engaging with continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD) processes, including responding to security threats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role.
  • Five (5) years of experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Golang, Python, Java, C#, or C or C++.
  • Three (3) years of experience with microservices architecture and concepts including APIs, versioning, and monitoring.
  • Two (2) years of experience with container-related technologies, virtualization, or distributed systems; and one or more public cloud service providers: AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • One (1) year of experience with database design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design and implementation of databases, design schemas and create efficient queries and access patterns.
  • Participate in and contribute to Agile software development ceremonies.
  • Participate in code reviews and assist in maintaining high code quality.
  • Refactor application code to address shortcomings and/or improve stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Coordinate with team leads, architects and other engineers on product design and architecture.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Work with Red Hat’s global customer support teams to aid them in assisting customers.
  • Work with continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD) and respond to security threats.
