Senior Software Engineer
About The Position
The Agent Registry & Governance team builds and owns the foundational platform and administration experiences that enable organizations to discover, manage, and govern agents across Agent 365. The platform serves as the governed source of truth for agents and associated artifacts, including tools, skills, and MCP servers, supporting lifecycle management, auditability, governance, analytics, and extensibility at scale. The Senior Software Engineer will build scalable cloud services, APIs, and administration experiences that underpin agent management and governance across Agent 365. The role contributes platform capabilities supporting the growth of the Agent 365 ecosystem and partners across teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions for AI-powered experiences. Platform capabilities include APIs for agent registration, inventory, lifecycle management, and governance, along with a governance rules engine and semantic registry capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable services, APIs, distributed systems, or cloud applications.
- Experience designing, developing, and operating production software and services.
- Experience driving technical design and delivering end-to-end solutions across multiple services or components.
- Experience with software engineering fundamentals, including coding, debugging, testing, performance optimization, and code quality.
- Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, data platforms, search technologies, or large-scale backend services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and influence technical decisions across teams.
- Passion for building reliable, scalable platforms that enable customers and partners to succeed.
- Experience developing cloud services and applications using C# and .NET.
- Experience with Azure, React, and modern web application development.
- Experience building scalable APIs, distributed systems, or large-scale backend services.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable services and APIs for Agent Registry and governance experiences across Agent 365.
- Drive design and implementation of agent registration, inventory, lifecycle management, governance, and administration capabilities.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features and services, from technical design through implementation, deployment, and live-site operations.
- Build reliable, secure, and extensible platform components for first-party and third-party integrations.
- Design and implement governance capabilities such as policy evaluation, auditability, metadata management, lifecycle controls, and enforcement workflows.
- Improve production services’ scalability, reliability, performance, security, and observability.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, architects, and partner engineering teams to translate customer and platform requirements into robust solutions.
- Contribute to technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and engineering best practices; mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
