About The Position

The Windows Servicing & Delivery team is responsible for building and publishing all security and quality updates for all versions of the Windows Operating System across all platforms (PC, Server, IoT, Xbox, Azure etc.) for all types of customers globally. Our team builds solutions and services (Autopatch, Windows Update for Business) to help commercial customers deploy these updates and manage their estates. On a monthly basis, WSD team keeps more than 1.6 billion endpoints protected and productive. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team! Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of a software engineering team and will be working on Windows Core File System components such as NTFS, REFS, Cache Manager, Cloud Files, Windows Container Filter, etc.
  • You will be owning more than one feature area allowing you to gain a breadth of knowledge and at the same time allows you to gain expertise in identified features.
  • Solve complex Windows customer-reported problems, you will have an opportunity to build strong Windows Internals fundamentals, learn how to write secure code, and pick up strong debugging skills in a team environment.
  • Design, implement, test, and release features, security fixes and reliability fixes for Windows Core File System components , with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
  • Uses debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and other methods to proactively verify assumptions while developing code before issues occur for products in production.
  • Conducts incident retrospectives to identify root causes of problems, implements repair actions, and identifies mechanisms to prevent incident recurrence.
  • Continuously learn the domain of Windows Internal, Windows Kernel Mode Drivers and File Systems, and apply it to improve the product.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, testing, and end-to-end (E2E) development, applying AI responsibly to improve engineering productivity and quality.
