As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements. The Customer Care Technology team develops advanced customer service solutions impacting millions globally. It includes software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts focused on innovative Generative AI applications within complex enterprise environments. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Systems, the team collaborates closely with product, business, and UX partners to deliver measurable business value. Emphasizing scalable, secure, and maintainable software design, the team fosters continuous improvement and operational excellence to support Walmart’s mission of helping customers save money and live better.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software engineering with strong technical acumen in coding, debugging, and continuous development.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and knowledge of multiple coding languages and frameworks.
  • Expertise in requirement analysis, solution design, and detailed software architecture for scalable distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough code reviews and deliver high-quality, maintainable software components.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, iterative development, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
  • Strong skills in defect management, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure application performance and reliability.
  • Experience implementing telemetry, security policies, and software testing strategies to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and classify requirements, including functional and non-functional, to align solutions with business objectives.
  • Design scalable software components and assist in converting high-level designs into detailed functional logic.
  • Develop maintainable, testable code adhering to coding standards and security policies.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and implement telemetry features to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Create and execute test cases, perform defect analysis, and support continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective and adaptive maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs and promote continuous improvement.
