Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack (Agentic)

MHC•Burnsville, MN

About The Position

MHC is seeking a senior full-stack engineer who combines strong software engineering skills with the ability to direct AI agents effectively. The engineer will design, build, and ship full-stack platform features, from backend services and APIs—preferably using .NET and C#—through data access and modern web front ends such as Vue or React/TypeScript. The role uses an agentic-first workflow in which AI coding agents help plan, implement, test, refactor, and review work, while the engineer remains accountable for architecture, quality, security, and outcomes. The engineer will own technical design for features and services, produce clean and well-tested code, and uphold engineering practices including code review, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence. They will break complex work into well-scoped tasks with specifications and guardrails for agents, rigorously evaluate and harden agent-generated code, and help improve the team's use of agents through shared patterns, prompts, and tooling. The role also partners with Product, Design, and engineering colleagues to deliver customer-facing value, mentors peers, and contributes to technical direction and an agentic-first engineering culture. This is a remote role for candidates based in the United States. Regular travel is expected for partner meetings, business reviews, industry events, and company gatherings. Candidates residing in or near the Twin Cities, Minnesota area are preferred. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building software using an agentic engineering approach, including AI coding agents or assistants to plan, implement, and review production work.
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, APIs, relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, and familiarity with modern delivery practices such as containers, automated pipelines, and observability.
  • Excellent judgment and code-review skills, including the ability to evaluate and harden AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to decompose ambiguous problems and collaborate across a distributed, remote team.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production full-stack applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent practical experience is considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing prompts, custom agent tooling, MCP servers, or agentic workflows.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Background in B2B SaaS, document or process automation, or other data- and workflow-heavy enterprise domains.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance in multi-tenant SaaS, such as SOC 2.
  • Open-source contributions or a track record of raising engineering practices on a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship features end to end, covering backend services and APIs, data access, and modern web front ends.
  • Own architecture and technical design for led features and services, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Write clean, well-tested, observable code and uphold comprehensive testing, code review, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
  • Use AI coding agents as a core part of daily work to plan, implement, test, refactor, and review software.
  • Break complex work into clear, scoped tasks and write specifications, context, and guardrails that help agents produce high-quality results.
  • Review, test, and harden agent-generated code, retaining accountability for correctness, security, and quality.
  • Improve team agent workflows by sharing patterns, building reusable prompts and tooling, and raising agentic-engineering maturity.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other engineers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped customer-facing value.
  • Mentor peers, contribute to technical direction, and help establish standards for an agentic-first engineering culture.

Benefits

  • Voluntary accident, cancer, and hospital indemnity insurance.
