About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will develop and own software for Anduril’s ground-based air defense Sentry Tower variants, funded by and delivered to its Air Defense program. These variants use the Sentry Tower platform to detect and track aircraft, with variant-specific sensor payloads, radar integration, and configuration. The work focuses on ensuring payloads, tracking, and configuration operate together effectively on real towers. The engineer will own the variants’ slice of the declarative NixOS platform, including product configuration, radar and camera payload integration, networking, manufacturing test hooks, image builds, and software updates. The role includes developing program-driven features and migrating legacy variant configurations onto the modern platform using common, composable modules, while verifying that existing functionality is preserved. The position offers broad, end-to-end ownership across integration, configuration, deployment, testing, and field support, with an experienced team providing depth in the relevant technical areas. The scope is limited to the program’s tower variants, and priorities are substantially driven by the contract schedule. Most work involves integration, configuration, and support rather than novel algorithms. Travel is approximately 10%, mostly local, to test sites and the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping real systems.
  • Proficiency in Rust or C++, with the ability to work across an existing codebase.
  • Solid Linux systems fundamentals, including command-line use, systemd, networking basics, and log-driven debugging.
  • Practical experience integrating software with hardware, such as sensors, embedded devices, or instrumentation, and comfort working with equipment on a bench.
  • Ability to own a component of a larger system end to end, including configuration, deployment, testing, and support.
  • Clear written communication skills to connect program requirements with implementation.
  • US person status and eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with radar, RF systems, or air surveillance and tracking.
  • Experience with camera or imaging pipelines, especially infrared.
  • Experience with declarative configuration management or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with Nix or NixOS; adjacent tooling is also a suitable starting point.
  • Python experience for tooling, scripting, and test automation.
  • Robotics experience, or work with motion control and pointing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own software configuration for Air Defense tower variants, including product definitions, payload and sensor configuration, networking, and image builds in the declarative platform.
  • Integrate and support sensor payloads, particularly radar and infrared camera services, including variant-specific configuration and behavior.
  • Develop features based on Air Defense program requirements, from design and implementation through delivery into a shipping product.
  • Migrate legacy variant configurations to the modern platform base and replace product-specific one-offs with common, composable modules.
  • Own the variants’ software update and deployment path and the manufacturing test configuration used to validate units during production.
  • Support the product in the field and on the manufacturing line by triaging, reproducing, and root-causing issues; fixing issues within the role’s scope; and coordinating other issues with the responsible team.
  • Work with Air Defense program engineers and stakeholders to align requirements, schedule, and technical realities.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • A comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
