About The Position

Aehr Test Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in their Fremont, CA location. The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing software for advanced test and automation systems. This position requires strong technical depth, architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate ownership of complex software components, deliver high‑quality solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement across the engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Expert proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, and C#
  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows development environments
  • Experience with multithreaded, task‑based, and GUI application development
  • Ability to design and evaluate black‑box and white‑box test cases
  • Background in multidisciplinary product development involving software and electronics
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong leadership and collaboration abilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to translate system‑level requirements into robust software architecture
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Exposure to tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, and GitKraken is preferred.
  • Experience in test systems, automation, semiconductor equipment, or related industries is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of software using C++, STL, Java, Python, and C#
  • Build scalable, maintainable applications for Linux and Windows operating environments
  • Architect and implement high‑performance software components aligned with system‑level requirements
  • Provide advanced technical support for customer applications, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Conduct detailed root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective actions
  • Oversee hardware/software integration, including lab bench testing and system‑level validation
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in coding, design, and testing
  • Participate in full lifecycle development: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Develop and review black‑box and white‑box test cases to ensure software quality
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Applications, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, documentation standards, and code review processes
