About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions using modern programming languages and AI/ML integration. The position requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and effective communication with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable solutions. The engineer will also support DevOps practices, code reviews, and mentorship, driving innovation and operational excellence within a dynamic and evolving technology environment. The team develops and maintains talent-related applications that support associates in goal setting, performance review, and career planning. It focuses on delivering high-quality software through collaborative engineering, iterative development, and continuous improvement. Leveraging advanced technologies such as AI and automation, the team enhances platform capabilities while ensuring system reliability and scalability. Members work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions. Emphasizing technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving, the team drives innovation and supports Walmart’s mission to empower associates and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through collaborative, iterative development and continuous integration.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of platform design, product strategy, and technical solution design aligned with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated skills in DevOps, automated testing, monitoring, and maintaining high-quality software systems.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to work across teams and support knowledge sharing and mentorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code using multiple programming languages and drive full software development lifecycle activities.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage generative AI tools to improve development velocity.
  • Assist in solution design, participate in design reviews, and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and define success metrics.
  • Monitor application performance, conduct maintenance, and support continuous integration and deployment.
  • Mentor peers, share knowledge, and promote engineering best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.
