About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer will deliver technically complex solutions, perform system integration activities, and consult with business product owners to understand end goals and offer solutions. This role focuses on applications specific to the Capital Markets technology platform, providing analysis, technical design, management of best practices, and oversight of applications supporting Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Loan Trading and Syndication, Investment Banking, Credit, and Risk. The engineer will also work with integration tools such as MuleSoft, TIBCO, or other event-driven message transmission capabilities. Responsibilities include leading and participating in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions, managing robust unit testing, and driving automation using DevSecOps practices. The role also involves providing escalated support for complex production applications, ensuring adherence to company standards and industry best practices, leading moderately complex projects, and solving complex technical and operational problems. The Senior Software Engineer will act as a resource for less experienced teammates, typically oversee the work of a small team, and provide leadership in the design, development, and maintenance of solutions. They will work within a feature team framework, providing oversight to scrum teams and engineering functions, analyzing features, and facilitating decomposition to user story level. The candidate will work directly with business stakeholders from the design process, delivering innovative, high-quality software, and leveraging continuous engineering practices. Responsibilities include supporting/overseeing integration and functional testing and ensuring code is developed in accordance with acceptance criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field plus 7 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering or IT Consulting positions working with Capital Markets platforms/domain.
  • At least 4 years of experience with: Working within the Investment Banking industry
  • Solving problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment, innovative thinking and precedents
  • Participating in Capital Markets initiatives with a focus on IT Delivery
  • Working in an Agile delivery methodology environment
  • Capital Markets domain expertise, including specific knowledge of the sales and trading lifecycle, relevant products being supported and a general understanding of the regulatory requirements
  • Leading efforts leveraging DevSecOps
  • Leveraging an automated SDLC (Dev, Build, Test, Release)
  • Leveraging public cloud providers AWS, Azure, Google, and Oracle
  • Supporting Capital Markets Regulatory Environment including SEC, FINRA, CFTC, NFA, and FED
  • Supporting / integrating quant libraries
  • Utilizing experience with: Calypso; Java; Markitwire; Message Queue; Active Batch; MS Excel proficiency; Data Analysis/Mining with R and Python; Qlikview, Tableau, and MSPowerBI; J2EE, .Net, Middleware, MuleSoft/TIBCO, WebServices, and Javascript; SQL Server, Oracle, SnowFlake, PostgreSQL, and Hadoop; and Machine learning / AI principles

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technically complex solutions.
  • Perform system integration activities for all project work.
  • Consult and partner with the business product owners to understand the end goal and offer solutions and recommendations during the design.
  • Provide analysis, technical design, management of best practices, oversight of applications supporting Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Loan Trading and Syndication, Investment Banking, Credit, Risk, and integration tools such as MuleSoft, TIBCO or other event-driven message transmission capabilities or integration products to customize or generate a product.
  • Lead and participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards.
  • Manage robust unit testing associated to user stories completed during the current sprint.
  • Drive the effort to automate unit testing leveraging DevSecOps practices and tools implemented in the software development pipeline.
  • Provide escalated support for highly complex applications in production.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Solve complex technical and operational problems.
  • Act as a resource for teammates with less experience.
  • Typically oversee the work of a small team.
  • Provide leadership / direction in the design, development and maintenance of solutions as well as play an active role as part of a platform team through the Product Development lifecycle.
  • Work within feature team framework providing oversight to scrum teams and engineering functions.
  • Analyze features and facilitate decomposition to user story level using experience, judgment and precedents to solve product challenges requiring software solutions.
  • Work directly and consult with business stakeholders from initiation of the design process, delivering innovative, high quality working software to satisfy the business objective.

  • Ensure code is developed in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.
