About the team: The Merchant Technology Cost Platform team drives the delivery of scalable, reliable software solutions aligned with Walmart’s platform goals. The team collaborates across functions to implement features, APIs, and AI/ML components, ensuring high-quality outcomes through iterative development and continuous integration. Members apply strong technical skills in coding, debugging, and design while embracing innovation and best practices. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
  • Experience delivering scoped features through iterative development and collaborative engineering teams.
  • Strong technical acumen in debugging, code review, and continuous integration/deployment processes.
  • Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions aligned with platform objectives.
  • Proficiency in integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development.
  • Skilled in translating complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions with measurable outcomes.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Own scoped feature delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage generative AI tools to improve development velocity.
  • Assist in solution design, evaluating trade-offs to build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance and maintain system reliability through proactive DevOps practices.
  • Mentor peers, promote engineering best practices, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
