About The Position

Foodics is building its own accounting platform, a new product developed from scratch by a small team. This platform will take all the data a merchant already uses in Foodics and transform it into a clean, closed set of financial books without requiring the merchant to do extra work. The role involves significant scope, including a ledger, core accounting modules, ZATCA compliance, and deep integration with inventory, payments, and the point of sale (POS) system. The project has an aggressive timeline and a high degree of ambiguity, which is central to its nature.

Requirements

5+ years of experience building production software, with significant time spent on accounting, ERP, or financial systems.
Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, period close processes, and the importance of a ledger beyond a simple table.
Strong full-stack engineering skills, with comfort in owning a feature from schema to screen.
An AI-native approach to work, using agents and LLM tooling daily, with the judgment to assess AI output reliability and measurably increase speed.
A track record of shipping quickly in early-stage or greenfield environments with small teams and short cycles.
A focus on correctness in systems where errors are costly.
Ability to work substantially within GMT+3 hours.

Nice To Haves

Product instinct, actively shaping product development alongside a Product partner.
Experience building or operating a ledger, double-entry engine, or transaction-processing system at scale.
Background in Fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
Familiarity with ERP platforms such as ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite, or SAP, either as a builder, integrator, or serious user.
Experience with ZATCA e-invoicing or similar regional tax and regulatory integrations.
Shipped AI-powered features, not just used AI for code generation.
Arabic speaker.

Responsibilities

Design and build the core accounting product, including general ledger, chart of accounts, journals, AP/AR, reconciliation, and financial reporting, using the company's technology stack.
Own the integration surface, connecting with inventory, payments, POS transaction flows, and regulatory e-invoicing.
Work full-stack, taking ownership of features from schema to screen.
Translate accounting requirements into system design in close collaboration with a product manager and a domain accountant.
Utilize AI tooling as a fundamental part of the development process, including evaluating reference systems, generating and reviewing code, and accelerating workflows.
Make and defend architectural decisions early in the development process, recognizing the critical nature of financial data integrity.
Ship product updates in weeks, not quarters, and gather feedback from real merchants to identify and address issues.
