About The Position

Lineage operates the world's largest cold chain for food distribution, ensuring temperature integrity from farm to store. This role is for the Connect engineering team, which develops integrations for LinOS, Lineage's Warehouse Management System. LinOS is crucial for managing warehouse inventory, orders, and customers, and it interfaces with LinOS, a platform that uses data science for end-to-end warehouse automation. The work has tangible impacts on real-world operations, affecting efficiency and accuracy in warehouse logistics. LinOS aims to modernize long-standing manual processes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong object-oriented development background.
  • Deep experience in at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#.
  • Strong SQL skills, including the ability to read, write, and optimize queries in a large relational schema.
  • Demonstrated experience with distributed systems, including services that integrate across boundaries and their associated failure modes.
  • Strong API design skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose unfamiliar production issues and drive them to root cause.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, capable of explaining technical decisions to diverse audiences.
  • Disciplined and effective use of AI development tools, including managing context and critically reviewing output.

Nice To Haves

  • Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS) and React or React Native.
  • Microsoft SQL Server, including stored procedures and query tuning.
  • Experience with warehouse management, supply chain, manufacturing, or other industrial/operational software.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Datadog or equivalent) and containerized deployment (Docker).
  • Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead on an initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build backend services and APIs for Connect, working across the LinOS integration boundary.
  • Take architectural direction from the Tech Lead and translate it into maintainable, well-tested, and well-instrumented code.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on assigned initiatives, owning the technical understanding of the problem.
  • Raise the engineering bar on the team through meaningful code reviews, ensuring high unit test coverage, useful logging, and identifying opportunities for code quality improvement.
  • Mentor mid-level and newer engineers on the project, contributing to their growth.
  • Participate in L3 production support for the systems owned by the team.
  • Effectively use AI coding assistants and maintain high standards for their output, comparable to hand-written code.
