About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer & Team Lead with 8+ years of experience to guide the design, modernization, and operational reliability of our large-scale technology platforms. This individual will split time between hands-on engineering and technical leadership — mentoring a team of engineers while driving enterprise-wide modernization initiatives across hybrid AWS and Azure environments. The ideal candidate combines deep site reliability engineering (SRE) expertise, a security-first architectural mindset, and fluency in modern automation and AI-enabled engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software/systems engineering experience, including experience in a technical team lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale modernization/transformation programs.
  • Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and principles.
  • Hands-on expertise across AWS and Azure, including multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architecture and design.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools: Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with application security testing tools such as Veracode, and security-driven architecture practices.
  • Strong scripting/automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML tooling into engineering workflows or platform capabilities.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk).
  • Background in regulated or enterprise environments with formal change management and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, setting technical direction, conducting code reviews, and supporting career development.
  • Serve as a hands-on individual contributor while overseeing sprint planning, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with product, architecture, and security stakeholders to align engineering execution with business objectives.
  • Drive large-scale application and infrastructure modernization initiatives, migrating legacy systems to cloud-native, scalable architectures.
  • Define and execute multi-year technology transformation roadmaps spanning re-platforming, re-architecture, and cloud migration.
  • Evaluate legacy systems and recommend modernization strategies that balance risk, cost, and business continuity.
  • Own reliability engineering practices including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response, on-call rotations, and constructive after-action plans.
  • Design for high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery across distributed, multi-cloud systems.
  • Build observability and monitoring capabilities to proactively identify and resolve system risks.
  • Architect and implement solutions across AWS and Azure, including multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub Actions.
  • Champion adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and practices to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Automate manual operational processes to reduce toil and improve system reliability.
  • Embed security-by-design principles into architecture and development of lifecycles.
  • Conduct and act on static/dynamic application security testing using tools such as Veracode.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security, governance, and risk management standards across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Possess Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, balance, and effectively advance multiple competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact in a professional and collaborative manner with fellow Dynanet Teammates and the clients, and business partners that we work with.
  • Ability and desire to challenge and educate yourself to support and advance IT services delivery in the Federal agencies we serve.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Respond to team member and client requests via email, MS teams, or other communication means during core business hours.
