About The Position

The Electrification Solutions New Markets (ESNM) organization within Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls, (VMEC), has an opening for a Software Integration Lead (SWIL). ESNM is a start-up within VMEC that focuses on battery management solutions for non-automotive or unique automotive products. In this role, you will directly impact GM’s strategy to expand into new markets such as Autonomous Manufacturing, Mobile Power Generation Systems, Stationary Energy Storage Systems, Specialty Vehicles, Watercraft, and Locomotives! We are seeking creative, highly motivated, agile thinkers with great attention to detail. We are looking for a Software Integration Lead to help our DevOps and software engineering deployment and automated CI/CD pipelines utilizing modern infrastructure to deliver proof of concept and production embedded software as quickly and safely as possible. In this role, you will apply agile principles to design, implement, and continuously improve automated build, integration, and test solutions for real-time embedded controllers. We are seeking software developers or DevOps engineers with experience in embedded software, tools such as Git and Jenkins, knowledge of different C compilers, and automation using scripting languages like Python or Perl. You will collaborate with product owners, developers, and testers to create robust software behavior tests and innovative automation capabilities that elevate built-in quality while advancing GM’s vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or other technical related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing large scale software projects for real-time embedded systems ( C, C++ )
  • Software-in-the-loop (SWIL) test environment experience.
  • 5+ years in RTOS for embedded system, instrumentation, and development tools (GIT, Gerrit, Jenkins, INCA, dSPACE, etc.)
  • Communication protocol and tool experience (Automotive Ethernet, CAN, LIN diagnostics, ETAS INCA, Intrepid NeoVI/VSpy, Vector CANoe/CANape tools )
  • Deploy and automate CI/CD pipelines
  • 5+ years working with microprocessors, micro-controllers

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or other technical related field.
  • Knowledge of Battery Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of the software development process.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Extensive experience reading and debugging source code in C/C++ language.
  • Software-in-the-loop (SWIL) test environment experience.
  • Hardware-in-the-loop test environment experience
  • MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow experience.
  • Communication protocol and tool experience (Automotive Ethernet, CAN, LIN diagnostics, ETAS INCA, Intrepid NeoVI/VSpy, Vector CANoe/CANape tools).

Responsibilities

  • Integration and verification of software build to produce software releases for development and production usage.
  • Act as the single point contact to supplier's software group and work with supplier to establish delivery content, schedules and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the development of software content and anomaly corrections
  • Actively manage controller resources (e.g. memory and CPU utilization), escalate and engage SMEs as needed for issue resolution.
  • Prepare software for both proof of concept and production releases.
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development and stays abreast of new technology, debugging & instrumentation tools, microprocessors and software development processes.
  • Foster & document Best Practices to ensure high quality deliverables and reduce development lead time.
  • Train, develop, mentor and evaluate technical capability of team members.
  • Analyze software defects; determine root cause, create software solution, test and verify closure.
  • Performs design and analysis on changes.
  • Diagnose, debug and solve issues related to battery hardware and software
