About The Position

L3Harris Space Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. Responsibilities include leading a software development team, analyzing requirements and the translation of requirements into working and maintainable solutions, planning the development, assigning budgets and tasks, tracking teams’ status, measuring teams work performed utilizing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and enforcing process across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The selected candidate will apply technical proficiency across various stages of our SDLC, gather requirements and work closely with stakeholders to prioritize and scope tasks. The selected candidate will be working as a lead team member on a Scrum team and will be instrumental in setting our direction and strategy for product and infrastructure development.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship eligible for a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience debugging application and cloud-based applications
  • Usage of Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service technologies, such as VMWare, OpenShift, or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile Scrum Practices
  • Experienced Rust developer is highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience developing device drivers and software for integrated communication systems
  • Experience with commercial telephony software packages, such as Asterisk
  • Experience with implement Risk Management Framework (RMF) security control across application software

  • Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target hardware
  • Work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system
  • Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware-software integration, and formal test
  • Develop software test plans and procedures, and other relevant technical documentation
  • Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results
  • Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects
