As a Senior Software Engineer in Post Market Quality (PMQ), you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and performance of Roche’s Digital Solutions, specifically addressing complaints related to our sequencing and pathology product portfolios. The Digital Solutions Chapter operates in a highly transversal software environment, offering exposure to cutting-edge technologies and diverse programming languages for both on-premise and cloud-based software. Your primary role will be that of a highly autonomous, deep-dive technical investigator, expertly analyzing complex, edge-case software failures and acting as a liaison between field troubleshooting and core R&D development teams. While your focus is on root cause analysis, you will not be responsible for final bug fixes. This position is within an Agile framework, where your innovative ideas and proposals are highly valued, contributing to a team dedicated to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven track record in Bioinformatics or IT support related functions.
  • Strong IT skills, especially the ability to read and debug complex source code of different programming languages to understand the root cause of reported issues.
  • Good ability to work independently even when faced with uncertainty.
  • Good ability to present technical work to stakeholders, influence and negotiate to push initiatives forwards.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT related field.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics or genomics.
  • Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Handling complex software complaints for sequencing and pathology products, including safety issues and product inquiries for various software products (on premise, cloud, mobile, apps).
  • Independently managing the entire case lifecycle: initial creation, classification, in-depth investigation, collaboration with on-site troubleshooting teams, documentation, and final resolution.
  • Taking ownership of escalating cases that cannot be directly resolved to the development department.
  • Acting as a senior technical expert for case resolution, utilizing the ability to read and understand complex source code to identify root causes of software malfunctions.
  • Mastering Roche internal quality processes and understanding their regulatory background to justify decisions.
  • Serving as an interface with Affiliates and Country Organizations, ensuring timely communication of essential quality-related information and supporting initiatives to enhance regional partnerships.
  • Utilizing automation and data analytics skills to improve the case handling process and proactively monitor product performance data.
  • Serving as a trusted technical proxy for the Principal Engineer when required.
