Senior Software Engineer, Organizations (Auth0)

OktaToronto, ON
CA$136,000 - CA$187,000Hybrid

About The Position

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk. Okta’s Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-Ø global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation. The Organizations team is expanding Auth0 to help B2B SaaS applications easily manage access for their own customers and partners, at scale. We make it possible for enterprise SaaS users to log in with the right set of permissions within the right context, and for our B2B customers to onboard access for their customers easily. Our work is cross-cutting and always heavily customer driven. We work in NodeJS (JavaScript and TypeScript) and use PostgreSQL for our data needs. Our services run on AWS and Azure and we lean heavily on containers for both our development and production needs. If you have keen eye for good user experiences and enjoy solving hard problems at scale we can’t wait to talk to you.

Requirements

  • Previous experience using Node.js (JavaScript or Typescript) and creating and maintaining public APIs.
  • Worked on full-stack apps in the past - you don’t need to be an expert but a decent portion of our work is on the front-end as well
  • Like working on systems that are highly-reliable, maintainable and scalable.
  • Experience and an eye for good engineering practices and testing, and love to share them.
  • Work autonomously but know when to seek help from your team members.
  • A good mentor and communicator, and bring the rest of your team along for the journey.
  • Experience with Docker and cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • IAM/OAuth2 experience.
  • Understanding and experience of DevOps culture. We have infrastructure teams that build interfaces for product teams but we love working with engineers who can reason about the workings under the covers - and roll their sleeves up to write some Terraform, if need be.
  • Good SQL knowledge and experience - we have some large datasets and need to make sure our schemas and queries are performant
  • Knowledge of security engineering and application security.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers both inside and outside the team to design and deliver powerful new enterprise functionality for our SaaS customers - both for the login flow itself and for Auth0’s direct and self-service management capabilities
  • Drive technical improvements to our codebase and architecture
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers on sound engineering practices
  • Every now and then, help drive improvements to shared stacks of functionality - such as our internal tooling for interactive testing of the product
  • Work with your team, the Product Manager and Product Designer to define the look, feel and functionality of new features and review customer feedback

Benefits

  • equity (where applicable)
  • bonus
  • health, dental, and vision insurance
  • RRSP with a match
  • healthcare spending
  • telemedicine
  • paid leave (including PTO and parental leave)
