Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their Behavior & Motion Planning team. This role will lead the development of core planning capabilities that directly influence the behavior of the Kodiak Driver on the road. It is a senior technical position for individuals who excel at tackling ambiguous, high-leverage problems at the intersection of robotics, optimization, and real-time systems. The engineer will be responsible for complex planning challenges from problem definition and stakeholder alignment to technical design, implementation, and validation of on-road impact. The work will extend beyond individual algorithms to influence the architecture, interfaces, and evaluation strategies for the planning stack. Collaboration with Planning, Perception, Simulation, Systems, and other teams is expected to develop cross-functional solutions for challenging autonomous trucking problems. The role requires a combination of deep technical judgment and hands-on execution, utilizing real-world operational data to enhance safety, driving quality, and system performance.
