About The Position

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Mainframe Cobol Programmer. This is a contract position with a duration of 12+ months, offering a strong possibility of extension and potential conversion. The role is located in Minneapolis, MN. As a Mainframe Cobol Programmer, the successful candidate will support and maintain the Data Distributor, NOVA, and SD applications within the Core Deposits team. This includes modifying existing COBOL programs to meet product and business requirements, such as enhancements, fixes, and regulatory updates. A key responsibility is validating and distributing data to Hogan IDS, which involves nightly batch processing. The role also requires developing and maintaining JCL for batch jobs and production workflows, performing testing, validation, and production deployments according to change processes, and participating in Agile ceremonies to collaborate with product and business partners. Additionally, the engineer will support production issues to ensure overall application stability and mentor junior engineers on Hogan and mainframe best practices.

Requirements

  • Strong COBOL development experience in a mainframe environment – most critical skill.
  • Strong understanding of and extensive hands-on experience with VSAM.
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy, highly customized mainframe applications.
  • Solid understanding of JCL for batch processing.
  • Experience with Endevor and other core mainframe technologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Solid coding foundation with the ability to learn and adapt within complex legacy systems.
  • Must be able to be engaged on a W-2 basis. 1099 contractors and Corp-to-Corp arrangements will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the Data Distributor, NOVA, and SD applications within the Core Deposits team.
