About The Position

Boulevard is seeking a product-minded software engineer to build experiences and systems for appointment-based businesses and the professionals and clients who rely on them. The role works closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to solve customer problems and owns technical solutions from design through production. Engineers work across a modern, event-driven platform and may specialize in frontend, backend, or full-stack development. Boulevard emphasizes strong engineering fundamentals over experience with particular technologies and provides the opportunity to learn Elixir. Engineers are expected to use AI-assisted tools where helpful while remaining accountable for the quality and outcomes of shipped work.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production applications.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to design clean, maintainable solutions to complex problems.
  • Track record of independently taking meaningful features or technical initiatives from definition through production.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Design to understand customer needs and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Systems thinking: identify recurring problem classes and build extensible patterns rather than one-off solutions.
  • Ability to evaluate tradeoffs, make sound engineering decisions, and communicate the reasoning behind them.
  • History of effective collaboration with engineers and cross-functional partners and contributing to others’ growth.
  • Eagerness to learn unfamiliar technologies and solve new problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Elixir, PostgreSQL, AWS, EventBridge, SQS, Oban, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, React Native, Terraform, continuous deployment, Datadog, Snowflake, or AI coding agents such as Claude Code. Prior experience with Elixir or every technology in the stack is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Own product and technical initiatives from design and scoping through implementation, launch, and iteration.
  • Build reliable, maintainable systems for real-time scheduling, client booking, marketing automation, and business-management tools.
  • Partner with Product and Design to understand customer problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop technical solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design and architecture, balancing scalability, maintainability, performance, and delivery speed.
  • Build across the platform in frontend, backend, or end-to-end areas according to expertise.
  • Take responsibility for shipped quality through testing, code review, observability, and ongoing production support.
  • Collaborate with and mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Improve software development and delivery practices, including thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay and performance bonus eligibility.
  • Equity participation for all full-time employees.
  • Medical coverage with up to 100% employee premium coverage and 75% dependent coverage.
  • Annual $1,200 employer HSA contribution for eligible plans.
  • Dental, vision, life, and disability insurance with premiums fully covered.
  • 12 weeks of fully paid U.S. parental leave for all new parents.
  • Flexible paid time off and 10 U.S. company holidays.
  • Remote-work support, including a $200 home office setup allowance and $50 monthly work-from-home reimbursement.
  • $200 quarterly Boulevard Bucks for well-being and industry connection.
  • One Medical membership.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
