Senior Software Engineer II, KYC
About The Position
The KYC (Know Your Customer) team is building the compliance infrastructure that powers every transaction in private markets, from Limited Partner (LP) onboarding to tender offers to transaction-level screening for Private Equity (PE). Across Carta's fund administration, Carta Law, and LP KYC-as-a-service offerings, the team screens over 1.5 million entities per year, making it one of the highest-volume compliance operations in the space. Right now, the team is in a pivotal moment: re-architecting a fragmented set of products into a unified KYC platform, part greenfield build, part strategic integration, where your judgment will directly shape the outcome. You'll join a small, senior team that blends startup-style execution with the rigor required to ship to production at scale.
Requirements
- Experience with (or a desire to learn) Python, Django, React, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Experience with Java, gRPC, and AWS.
- Ability to break down complex user stories into actionable tasks and execute them with minimal guidance.
- Understanding of the "why" behind code and ability to articulate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.

- Dig deep into our architecture to identify opportunities to simplify code and infrastructure, prioritizing changes that have a measurable business impact.
- Use the best AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate your workflow, improve code quality, and spend more of your time solving the high-level logic and unconventional problems.
- Act as a mentor and coach, raising the technical bar for your peers through diligent PR reviews and architectural guidance.
- Partner with product and design to ensure we are building the right solution for the user, not just following a specification.
