At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. This role focuses on designing, developing, and validating software for embedded controls systems in the electrification domain for High Voltage Battery Sensor Communication / Wired-Wireless Communication and Sensing. The engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Physics and Controls requirements to continuously improve software for mechatronic controls and diagnostics strategies as well as controller communication. The role involves testing and demonstrating software functionality and readiness, supplying common solutions across all GM owned software, and documenting requirements for design solutions and linking them to test cases. Utilization of automated test tools in build environments, benches, and vehicles to verify functionality at the Controller, System, and Vehicle level, as well as using hardware in the loop and vehicle systems for continuous validation, are key aspects of the position. The engineer will also continuously utilize data for software feature refinement and improvement. Collaboration with an Agile Scrum team, providing leadership, and coordinating with external departments such as Systems & Safety, Electrical Architecture, Software Defined Vehicle, Calibration, and Vehicle Performance are expected. The role also involves providing input in software planning events, sharing ideas and learnings, and mentoring junior engineers.
