About The Position

Google software engineers develop technologies used by billions of people to connect, explore, and interact with information. This role works on projects critical to Google, with the opportunity to move between teams and projects as business needs evolve. Engineers are expected to be versatile, demonstrate leadership qualities, and take on problems across the full stack. The Workspace AI platform team uses Google’s generative AI models and infrastructure to build an AI platform for Google Workspace products, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, and Drive. The platform aims to help users be more productive by automating repetitive tasks, surfacing insights and visualizations, and improving content creation, collaboration, and consumption. The team is responsible for agentic features that support users’ creativity and productivity at work, school, and home. Google Cloud helps organizations digitally transform their businesses and industries with enterprise-grade solutions based on Google technology and tools for developers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with end-to-end machine learning, such as model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, or debugging.
1 year of experience with generative AI techniques or related concepts, such as LLMs, multimodal systems, large vision models, language modeling, or computer vision.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms in an academic or industry setting.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
3 years of experience with ML/AI algorithms and tools, deep learning, or natural language processing.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to choose among available technologies.
Review other developers’ code and provide feedback on best practices, including style, code check-in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Contribute to documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product or program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing issue sources and effects on hardware, network, service operations, and quality.
