About The Position

Awetomaton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to support customers at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will interface with end-users to understand and refine requirements for applications supporting mission needs. You will be applying expertise in JavaScript and modern web frameworks to enable rapid search, discovery, visualization, and retrieval of data. An active TS/SCI is preferred; however, the ability to obtain is required with sponsorship available. The ideal candidate will possess a BS degree or higher in engineering or related field with 7-12 years of experience. This position will largely be performed at Awetomaton Beavercreek HQ, with occasional trips to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for meetings and software deliveries once able to. We are considering candidates through September with a planned October 2026 start date.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications with React framework
  • 5+ years of minimum experience in JavaScript / TypeScript, CSS/SASS/LESS, HTML
  • 5+ years of experience developing applications and services using Python
  • Experience with relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL
  • Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
  • Experience with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
  • In-scope TS SCI Clearance
  • Seven (7) years of experience developing web applications with modern web app libraries and frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, etc).
  • Experience with web mapping technologies such as Cesium
  • Experience with database design, querying, and integration (e.g., ORM tools like SQLAlchemy)
  • Experience developing back-end web APIs in Python using FastAPI
  • Experience following GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.)
  • Demonstrable excellence in UI/UX
  • Expertise with Container Technologies (Docker / podman / etc.)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience managing Kubernetes deployments via ArgoCD and Kustomize is a major plus

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements
  • Expert in modern web application technologies including TypeScript, React, NodeJS, etc.
  • Proficient in building and integrating RESTful APIs and server-side logic using Python

  • Experienced deploying web applications via containerization
