Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)
About The Position
Our client is building the startup discovery and intelligence layer for the global venture ecosystem. Their platform transforms massive volumes of fragmented, unstructured data—including web sources, filings, APIs, and internal datasets—into a structured, searchable system that helps top venture firms discover and evaluate the next generation of breakout startups. The company powers intelligence workflows for some of the world’s most sophisticated investors, enabling them to source deals earlier, conduct deeper diligence, and manage their pipelines in a unified system built directly on top of a proprietary knowledge graph. With strong product-market fit, rapid adoption across leading VC firms, and a highly technical team of ~40+ engineers and researchers, this is a rare opportunity to help build foundational infrastructure for how startup ecosystems are mapped, searched, and understood.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience as a full-stack or backend-leaning engineer
- Strong startup experience at high-growth, VC-backed companies
- Experience building data-heavy web applications (CRM, analytics, or workflow tools preferred)
- Comfortable working across backend + frontend (approx. 60/40 split)
- Strong experience designing APIs and working with large datasets
Nice To Haves
- Experience in environments like Notion, Airtable, Linear, Figma, or similar strongly preferred
- CS degree from a strong academic institution preferred
- Preferred Experience with Python, TypeScript, React, Go, or GraphQL
- Experience building or scaling search systems (e.g., Elasticsearch or similar)
- Familiarity with data infrastructure tools (dbt, Postgres, cloud systems)
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor)
- Exposure to venture capital, fintech, or research/data platforms
- Strong product intuition for UX in data-heavy systems
Responsibilities
- Build and scale the core intelligence layer that transforms unstructured data into structured startup, investor, and market knowledge
- Design and implement data pipelines ingesting APIs, web data, filings, and internal datasets at scale
- Develop full-stack features powering search, discovery, and research workflows for venture capital users
- Build and maintain GraphQL APIs on top of large-scale data systems
- Work on a dual product surface: Discovery engine (data + search + research system) and Deal management system (CRM-like workflow for investors)
- Design performant frontend experiences using React + TypeScript for data-heavy workflows
- Collaborate closely with product and research teams to translate complex datasets into intuitive UX
- Improve system performance, scalability, and data reliability across the stack
- Contribute to shaping architecture for a rapidly growing data platform
